北京艺莱空间很高兴能展出五位重要美籍非裔艺术家的作品：拉肖恩•格里芬（Rashawn Griffin），惠特菲尔德·拉弗尔（Whitfield Lovell），圣戈·南古地（Senga Nengudi），史妮克·史密斯（Shinique Smith）以及赛亚·渥福克（Saya Woolfalk）。本次群展是中国艺术界首次关注黑人艺术家作品的展览。展览的标题"线",来源于黑人社群中长期使用的一句赞赏他人衣着品位的俗语“nice threads”( 美好的线)。
此次展出的作品无论是纸上艺术、雕塑还是录像装置，都企图运用非传统的方式对"日常生活中的现成物"、纺织品和纤维等进行再创造。艺术家们在融合物质和文化的探索中虽然方式不寻常，但却殊途同归。
线：美国非洲艺术家多媒体艺术展将于2010 年9月18日至12月18日在北京艺莱空间展出。展览附有精美图录并包含策展人洛厄里•斯托克斯•西姆斯（Lowery Stokes Sims）所撰写的文章。
EK Projects is pleased to present five major black American artists: Rashawn Griffin, Whitfield Lovell, Senga Nengudi, Shinique Smith and Saya Woolfalk. This exhibition is the first group show in China dedicated to the work of black artists. The use of "Threads" in the exhibit's title reflects the longstanding use in the black community of the phrase "nice threads" to convey appreciation of one's choice of clothing.
The artworks involve 'found objects', textiles and fiber employed in unconventional ways in a variety of media, from works on paper to sculpture to video installation. The artists share an uncommon approach in blending materials and cultures.
Threads, on view from September 18th to December 18th, 2010 at Eli Klein Fine Art's Beijing gallery, EK Projects, is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue with an essay by Lowery Stokes Sims.
