Preface
通过长达十多年的绘画实践，王兴杰发展出了带有他个人特点的符合规范的写实造型体系。出于对多种造型手段开放式的理解，王兴杰实际并没有刻意排斥所谓“正确”的造型 手法，那种稚拙和天然的面貌也没有被他滥用而失去本来的情趣。这也许说明视觉再现的普遍原则对他具有比较强的感染力。我们看到王兴杰的绘画技术从生到熟经过了一个自然而实在的转变过程。他的作品中有年轻一代画家直截了当、不受拘束的气质，也有苦闷、疑惑，进而自嘲和幽默的成分。很多作品并不是规划完整的呈现，而是在找寻和探索中的坚持和执著，而这一状态造就了他作品之中真实和生动的动人品质。王兴杰在生活的逆境中探求艺术的人生之道，在艺术的边缘地带坚持长期的实践，以自觉的力量和意识寻找着艺术的途径，执著地付出，努力地去赋予绘画以新的意义。无论是对个人生活的感悟和把握，或是对消费中的当代文化意义的反思和批判；无论是对语言和对象的继续开拓和尝试，还是对自己已经形成的经验和价值判断进行分析整理和提炼，作为画家的王兴杰和他的同辈们还需要去走很长的路，而他们的努力将构成人们所期盼的中国当代文化的真实而明确的含义。
Wang Xingjie’s entirely self-taught painting then reaches the same goal with the academism formation system. After ten more years of practicing in drawing, he finally finds his own personal characteristics and also meets a criterion in realistic painting。To the open-minded understanding in various formations Wang Xingjie, in fact, has never been in a deliberate rejection of the so-called “correct” method of forms. And his work remains consistently naive and imaginative. Perhaps, it explains that the general principle of being reproduced visual sense has a great influence on him. What we see in his painting is naturally a process of transformation – from interests into talents in him. The art work of Wang creates that all put up a straightforward and unconstrained character of young artist, in which contains completely about agonizing, uncertainness and self-deprecating humour. Most of his works do not present in a planning integrated way but showing his persist and rigid in searching after his ideal which brings genuine and vivid quality up to his creation. Wang Xingjie’s creation to a great degree benefit from the characteristics of painting, in reversal condition one can quest for the path of life and stick to practice at the edge of art field, as well as rigidly using self-conscious strength and awareness to find the true path of art and endue it with new meanings. No matter what one feels about individual life or to rethink and criticize profoundly about the significance of popular culture in consumerism era; no matter what sort of artistic language and object one will develop and try or to analyse and refine one’s existing opinion of experience and value, as an artist there will be a long way for Wang and of the same generation to go. And, what they strive for will make up the true and specific connotation of Chinese contemporary culture.
